Councilor Zeke "Arachi"
Arachi | Fluid |
273 | Daecoan |
appearance
This is the appearance for the primary controller of the collective. Other appearances will be shown below.
personality
Someone who under no circumstances would rationally be allowed into the position of power he occupies, Zeke is well known for being lazy, shirking paperwork, and spending far too much time hiding places he ought'n't be. Fortunately for everyone involved, when his intervention is actually necessary, he's very capable of buckling down and doing his job(s), and he's generally fairly determined to do them well. When it comes to soldiers under his command, he's protective to a fault, choosing to get to know even his infantry when he has the opportunity. A master of the ideal degree of separation, he's well aware that people will die, and does his best to not get that invested in the majority of his cohorts because of that. Not a very capable magician, a rarity amongst most Daeca, he still enjoys studying, though his focus tends to be on the tactics of warfare and individual combat alike. His other interests are few and far between - From a very young age he's been trained and conditioned to lead one of the multiverse's most dangerous standing armies in peacetime. Still, he enjoys traveling, seeing new places and people, and occasionally picking fights for the fun of it. This is known for causing issues between himself and the rest of the Council, whose non-interference policies leave them slightly at odds. His other pursuits include a very limited artistic tendency, usually associated with some form of destruction (such as carving a wooden training dummy into abstract, but purposeful shapes), and an unusual passion for the worlds within books, which is perhaps a tangential branch of his love of exploring. His fears, much like his pursuits, are limited, but strong. The idea of being forced into powerless captivity shakes him to his core, as does the thought of failing what he views, as a largely atheistic being, as his god-given purpose in protecting the realms he has been assigned to protect, and the creator at the center of them all.
That fear will one day become the undoing of two worlds.
background
The history of the Orochi spans aeons, but to summarize, one of the K-Class Daeca, eight bonded souls are reincarnated throughout the ages. At the center, Yamata, a creature shackled by the other seven souls to curb his homicidal tendencies, but at the fore a new soul selected with each reincarnation to replace any of the old that wish to be removed from the cycle. The newest in this line of new souls is Zeke, born of assigned parents with two unforseen (but not unlikely) triplet brothers. Because young, important people tend to make juicy targets for people who'd want them dead, a trap at their house gone awry resulted in both of his parents dying, along with the assailants. He doesn't remember much, given he knew his parents for barely more than a decade. At least that's what he claims. Taken in by the government a few years earlier than planned, after some counseling from the powers that be, he started training to head the Daeca army (known informally as the Army of the Ancients, after the council that commands it) at the age of 17. Peacetime gave him the time he needed to adjust and train, and the next time he appeared in the public eye he was nearly 50 and dubbed the Commander of Ancients, taking his seat on the council as its youngest member (as was an unofficial tradition of the Orochi, who among the Council of K-Class Daeca tend to die most often). Peacetime kept him steady for a number of years, until a group of humans led by the spawn of Councilor 9 began dragging Daeca from their own dimension to that of Earth, forcing him into a guerilla war with an enemy that sought to recombine their dimensions and assert superiority over both. After they succeeded with part one, a lengthy battle erupted on the now combined Daeca and human earths, with Daeca barely emerging victorious, at great cost to both themselves and the humans on the other side, innocent or not. A little less than 20 years later, peacetime has reluctantly resumed as the remaining humans and Daeca are forced to negotiate a tenuous peace, each assuming the rough half of each of their planets left after they were superimposed over one another in spacetime. With war fiteen years in the past, the councilor found himself able to start shirking his duties properly again, and resumed his idle exploration, hopping between dimensions to see what he could of the various worlds...
powers
Techniques
Power - Technique
Name: Weapon Summoning
Description: An ability used to store the myriad arsenal of weapons in Witchspace, Zeke can instantly summon or banish any of the Eight Blades outlined below in a flash of black flame. Limited to using two at a time with his power limited (as outlined below), he also cannot use both weapons at once if one is too heavy to allow for the holding of another weapon, with the exception of the Fifth Blades, which are worn rather than held. Any weapon that would be held is summoned to an open hand, while any weapon that would be worn is attached where it would be worn. Weapons that leave their grasp for more than thirty seconds are banished automatically, unless that weapon is the only weapon on their person, or the weapon of the active "head" (which is summoned by default upon switching between heads, if one of the previous weapons was that head's signature weapon - this weapon is banished accordingly).
Damage Type: Burning, possible Piercing if the weapon is summoned into someone, though the flame doesn't burn at first, and offers ample time for anyone in harm's way to move themselves as the weapon materializes.
Power - Technique
Name: Stepping Out
Description: The ability to rend the fabric of spacetime with any of the Eight Blades, and step through it to wherever it leads. While fully powered he has near full control over where cuts lead, thanks to a sort of eightfold sense of sight, in his current state he is largely limited to rough destinations, only capable of traveling very short distances (<30 feet) with anything resembling accuracy (<5 feet), and the chance for an outright miss remains 50% even at those ranges. The technique's greater utility is that to redirect incoming attacks away from himself, but this still comes with the risk of directing it in an unfavorable direction, on top of the fact that the effort required with his lowered power level means he can only use the power once a day without overexerting himself.
Damage Type: Slashing (if someone gets in the way at either side of the tear in spacetime)
Seal Abilities
Power - Ability
Name: Orochi Seal
Description: A twining tattoo originating at the shoulder of the Orochi, regardless of who is in control, stretching down their arms and across their chest and backs. A marking most non-feral Daeca possess, which allows them to assume a human, or largely human(oid) form. This also permits any Daecoan, especially K-Class Daeca, to store any excess Essence generated between their Body and Soul. While Zeke's is mostly bound by the low levels of ambient Zerrei radiation present throughout the Smash universes, he can still access a limited amount of his power, and is consequently still much stronger and faster than his form would suggest, along with possessing superhuman regenerative properties. His speed is his most impressive asset, being capable of short bursts of movement at fifty to seventy five feet per second, which does little to affect his endurance even if he can only move in short bursts. His reflexes and perception are proportionally increased, and while he is capable of maintaining both, the same restrictions as to its daily use apply, and overuse of his speed in fixed combat will still drain him just the same as moving flat-out for that time frame. His strength is secondary by a fair bit, nowhere near as impressive as his speed, followed by his durability, which is only barely above human limits thanks to a layer of scales underneath his primary layer of skin that serve well against slashing damage, not so much against piercing or crushing damage. His regeneration is accelerated to the point that a broken bone will recover within a week, but he is better served by removing damaged body parts, as the recovery will be more consistent and about the same speed, albeit without the ability to use whichever bit is missing. Thanks to the radiation dampening his abilities as well as his power generation, overuse of these abilities (more than three limbs' worth of injuries to recover at once, more than an hour spent traveling at his fastest speeds over the course of a day, or absurd strain on his strength) will cause him to lose most of his power until he's had time to rest for anywhere from a week to a month, depending on how much he's overexerted himself (All three categories nets four weeks/a month, two is two weeks, one is one). During this time frame his powers will be essentially null, and his power level and healing rate will be largely limited to that of a human.
In addition to these things, while it is perfectly possible to incapacitate Zeke through traditionally fatal means, the only means of killing him permanently are to sever the connection between his heart and his brain completely, either by destroying one or the other, or by decapitation or bisection between those areas. As a result, his trophification usually results from severe damage and/or incapacitation rather than death proper.
Damage Type: N/A
Power - Ability
Name: Eight Heads, Eight Tails
Description: The ability of the eight "heads" of the Orochi to switch control of their primary body, and match its appearance to themselves. Each head has its own unique personality and tactical sense, but is otherwise identical in terms of power, speed, and durability, and injuries carry over between them. This is a sub-ability of their Seal. It is also worth noting that each form has an octet of black snake tails, though the scale type changes between them (Zeke has smooth black cobra scales, Zoe has iridescent ones, and Yamata has the pointed scales of a bush viper, for example).
Damage Type: N/A
Variant: While technically variants, these have no real combat effect differences and will simply be listed below this app to avoid having to list eight different forms as separate powers, and to avoid clogging this section of the app
Weapons
Power - Weapon
Name: The Eighth Blade
Description: The sword wielded primarily by Zeke when he is in control. A katana-esque blade that has been re-hilted to resemble a german longsword or Kriegsmesser, the blade is the equivalent sharpness of Obsidian while being much more durable, capable of withstanding forces that would destroy most blades. Despite its strength, its atomic bonds are sheet-based, and the blade, while eternally sharp, is prone to being split perpendicular to its edge, to the spine of the blade, which is aligned differently and appears white instead of black as a result, while being largely unable to keep an edge.
Damage Type: Slashing, Piercing (limited)
Power - Weapon
Name: The Seventh Blade
Description: The blade wielded primarily by Julius when he is in control. A gladius with a black blade, which has the same properties of the Eighth Blade, with the exception that its core is the white portion of the blade, sheathed in the black metal.
Damage Type: Slashing, Piercing
Power - Weapon
Name: The Sixth Blade
Description: The polearm wielded primarily by Jana when she is in control. A Guan Dao with a wide black edge and a white flat (On this single one the picture is inverse), which has the same properties as the other blades. The haft is heavily reinforced, but made of wood externally - the internal shaft is not as strong as the blade either, though it is plenty strong enough to withstand most conventional weapons. There is also a small black spike at the end of the handle, which can be used to stab, or much less effectively to slash.
Damage Type: Slashing, Piercing
Power - Weapon
Name: The Fifth Blades
Description: The blades wielded primarily by Zoe when she is in control. A pair of wrist-mounted point daggers that are nonetheless sharp along the edges. One is black, and keeps its edge better, while the other is white, and while it doesn't hold its edge as well is better suited for blocking and feinting. The bindings that keep them on her wrists, despite being black, are made of traditional metals and aren't quite as strong as the blades, but are still strong enough to withstand their strength in combat.
Damage Type: Piercing, some Slashing
Power - Weapon
Name: The Fourth Blade
Description: The blade wielded primarily by Aria when she is in control. A single, large combat knife with a knuckleduster guard, and a variety of survival equipment stored in the haft of the blade. It has the same properties as the other blades, its edge never waning but occasionally "wedging" while its spine prevents it from being split through. The knuckleduster guard is made of more traditional metals that are still able to keep up with their strength in combat.
Damage Type: Slashing, Piercing, Impact
Power - Weapon
Name: The Third Blade
Description: The blade wielded primarily by Kaizer when he is in control. A long, slender rapier with razor sharp edges and a wicked point capable of piercing steel if applied appropriately. One of the most dangerous blades in the right hands. It has the same properties as the other blades, though the thin sheath of black metal over the white core means the blade is nearly impervious to damage to its edge. This is somewhat compensated for by its cross section limiting its cutting abilities, though the rigidity does make it an excellent piercing weapon.
Damage Type: Piercing, limited Slashing
Power - Weapon
Name: The Second Blade
Description: The blade wielded primarily by Omega when he is in control. A broad chinese jian, with an entirely white blade, it must be resharpened by pressing the loose layers of its metal together much more frequently than the other blades with black edges must be re-edged by correcting their wedge splits. Properly tended to, however, the weapon is among the more durable of the blades, much better suited to roughly blocking and redirecting opponents' strikes than most weapons. The ribbon makes for a good distraction, and can also be used to bind enemies if applied creatively.
Damage Type: Slashing, limited Piercing and Constricting
Power - Weapon
Name: The First Blade
Description: The blade wielded primarily by Yamata when he is in control. An enormous black Flamberge Zweihander, apparently a single enormous piece of unwieldy metal, the blade (as its name suggests) has an undulating curve pattern, along with a pair of axe-like blade heads for handguards. Still double edged, this blade is extremely dangerous to anyone in its zip code, wielder included. A white core keeps the monstrosity in one piece, but its entirely black outer core means nearly every exposed bit of the weapon is sharpened to an obscene degree, save for the rounded handle beneath its crude wrappings.
Damage Type: Slashing, limited Crushing and Piercing
final smash
Final Smash: Octattack
Description: Zeke splits his seal and turns one body into eight, each head spawning with their respective weapon. Zeke quickly holds his opponent so Aria can stun them with a punch from the hilt of her dagger, before pinning them to the ground with the blade through their foot (or nearest applicable body part). Lucius then quickly impales the other foot with his gladius, before Jana leaps and pins them through the back with her polearm, forcing them to stay upright. Zoe then moves in, backhanding them with one of her daggers across the face before gut punching them with the other as she slides past. Kaizer lunges forwards, quickly piercing a variety of painful but noncritical areas, before sliding past and leaving his blade in the last location. Omega swats away a last bit of desperate resistance if there is any, before shoving his blade in next to Lucius', before Yamata runs in and slashes up their front once with his blade. Each "head" disappears in a flash of black flame after their attack, leaving only Zeke standing behind them, who taps their shoulder before cutting across their spine with a quick iaijutsu swing, each other weapon disappearing after the blow and allowing the victim to fall as he resheathes his sword.
Damage Type: Primarily Slashing and Piercing, limited Impact

The Eight Heads
Zeke
This one's covered above. Consider it a freebie. His secondary specialization is with the First Blade
Yamata
Arguably the most deranged of the bunch, and the reason the set comes with eight heads instead of one, Yamata is the original soul of the K-Class Daecoan known as the Orochi demon, among a variety of other things. His combat tactics are almost dangerously lax-seeming, focusing on unnerving an opponent before tearing them to shreds. The only member of the group capable of wielding the first blade one handed in their current state, though not because his strength is greater - he simply doesn't care for the consequences of leaving himself open after the scything, sweeping swings he specializes in, and is willing to deal with minor to moderate structural damage as an expense for his swings, though he becomes significantly more dangerous when wielding the blade properly. His secondary specialization is the Fifth Blades.
Jana
The "team" medic, as it were, she's generally the one patching up their wounds for them post-combat, if only because she's got a better mind for it. No less dangerous in combat for her medical knowledge, Jana's combat style focuses on strong, controlled sweeps and swings designed to keep opponents at a certain range where the blade is most effective, and punishing them for intruding on her "safe zone," using strong stabs and quick slashes to keep defensive opponents under control. Relatively level-headed, she's also one of the more sarcastic of the bunch, well known among friends for dehydrating people with her wit while treating them for injuries she feels they acquired foolishly. The rest of the heads are not spared this treatment. Her secondary specialization is the Third Blade
Aria
Of the heads, Aria is the one you talk to if you want something done efficiently, without much pause for thought as to what's in the way. A combat pragmatist, any move against an opponent is fair game in her books, and she uses this in conjunction with a brutally efficient style to take much more heavily armed and armored opponents down with little more than an admittedly large combat knife. Ever the soldier, even outside combat she's much more formal than most of the rest of them. This doesn't lead her to be entirely humorless, but she is largely more composed and carries herself more professionally than most of the rest of the group as a result of her self-imposed discipline. Her secondary specialization is the Seventh Blade
Zoe
A kindred spirit of Zeke's, Zoe is one of the more casual members of the group, stressing over very little, and focusing most of her free time on enjoying life. She's been through the cycle enough times to know that her time is still limited, and she's spent a long time learning to live with that and working out how to make the most of it. Socializing is among her fortes, as is exploring and creating a variety of worlds through literature and poetry, and her fighting style reflects this. For the most part, her movements are fluid and almost lyrical seeming, picking the most showy gestures... until it's time to drive the point home, using her previously misleading style to fool her opponents into mistaking her style for inefficiency by going for far more direct attacks once they're on the back foot. Her secondary specialization is the Eighth Blade
Julius
Much as Zoe is Zeke's kindred spirit, Julius plays the role of great-minds-alike to Aria, among the newer spirits to grace the collective, his devotion to command is second only to hers, though not for lack of trying. While Aria's tactics are well suited for individual combat or small groups, Julius specializes in group command almost exclusively. Not without personal combat skills, he is nonetheless weaker at fighting in small groups than fighting among a group of multiple, coordinated, like-minded and -armed fighters. Which, among an army as diverse as the Youkai army, is his failing. In combat, he is brutal and efficient, focusing on parrying with the armored back of his offhand gauntlet and stabbing with his gladius wherever he may, taking advantage of his weapon's greatest strength while mixing in slashes to keep the opponent on their toes, while playing up his intimidation factor by shouting and barking orders and challenges at his opponents and allies alike. His secondary specialization is the Second Blade
Kaizer
Of the four focused tacticians in the group (Himself, Zeke, Aria, and Julius), Kaizer is perhaps the most intimidating, at most times striding onto a battlefield with little more than a rapier and a dress uniform. Having been a part of the collective for the longest of any spirit besides Yamata and Omega,
his life is largely dedicated to combat, and as a result he has refined his combat style to an art form. Moving with fluid efficiency, each strike is aimed to kill, and each flourish is a parry in disguise, one perhaps even the one being parried won't recognize immediately. His secondary specialization is with the Fourth Blade.
Ωmega
A gathered mixture of every soul that has ever passed through the Orochi, designed to catalog them in the even that their wisdom is needed past their time.
Omega is largely neutral in most things, the soul fragments gathered over the years mostly cancelling each other out over time to bring him to a sort of true neutral where no one emotion or personality trait is strong enough to drag him far off-center. This does not make him unintelligent, unable to understand humor or sarcasm, or anything else "robotic" of the sort. It simply means he rarely reacts to such things, and is nearly impossible to taunt or jeer at as a result.
His fighting style is largely opportunistic defense, keeping his opponents coming after him until he can find an opening to turn the tables in as devastating a manner possible. His secondary specialization is with the Sixth Blade.
