Franchise, Original Game: Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
APPEARANCE
PERSONALITY
Ghirahim could be called, among demons at least, an odd individual. He acts and speaks as though born with a silver spoon in his mouth; he speaks in an eloquent manner and behaves in a formal and polite demeanor, even when he acts true to his demonic nature, occasionally. He even has a sense of honor, at least to those he deems his equals, like many aristocrats.
This may give one the impression that he is a very calm and serene creature, yet, he is quite the opposite; he is a very flamboyant demon to the point of near-showmanship, and so open with his emotions one could argue that they’re more theatrical than anything. But, in truth, while they may seem exaggerated, Ghirahim is simply one that wears his heart on his sleeve. Such instances are when his more inhuman traits tend to come to light, such as his bloodlust, sadism, and cruelty.
Ghirahim is a suitable leader; with much experience as a lord and a second-in-command of an army, he is able to hold a position of political power very well. However, despite this and his virtual noble origins, he is, as a weapon, naturally subservient, and willfully serves if he needs to, though the only types likely to get him to serve would be demons like himself that prove their strength and skill.
The exception to all of this, however, is humanity. After the ancient hero of green and the mortal goddess not only repeatedly defeated and/or evaded him personally, but killed his master Demise not only once, but twice, he was left with a burning hatred for humans. What was before a weak and inferior species is now a disgusting and horrible plague that is barely fit as pet food, if that. Despite hating every fiber of every human, however, he has learned his lesson to not underestimate them if they prove stronger than expected.
In other words, he now has a sense of practicality, particularly with troublesome humans, where he is more willing to eschew his dramatic and theatric mannerisms to be more effective.
HISTORY
Ghirahim’s origins remain a mystery to all but him, especially since the only likely “person” to know details about him was slain ages ago by an ancient hero. Nonetheless, whether he was born, created, or simply spawned into existence, he was an intimidating and powerful figure. Eons ago, in an era lost to recorded history in Hyrule, he acted as the second-in-command of a horrible demonic army that broken from a fissure, rising from a world beneath to assault the surface, aiming to take the legendary Triforce for Demise, the ultimate leader of the demon army, and take the world. This incursion, however, failed, with the interference of the goddess Hylia and the coalition of the five tribes under her leadership, with the Demon King sealed away.
With the defeat of his master, the Demon Lord disappeared, and little is known of him or his activities during the generations of Skyloft’s existence. It can be assumed that he and the demon forces grew in power, as by the time the Goddess’ Hero fell through the clouds, evil controlled most, if not all of the surface. This, however, was not to their nor Ghirahim’s satisfaction: their great leader Demise was still sealed away and the Triforce was still out of their grasp.
Ghirahim, however, concocted a plan, a hope to fix both, and to that end he summoned a powerful tornado and pulled the Spirit Maiden Zelda from the very sky. This, while beginning an adventure for two mortals of destiny, began a virtual hell on earth for Ghirahim. Setback after setback caused by the Sky Child Link and the Servant of the Goddess Impa thoroughly hindered his plans, the stacking failures nearly sending the emotional demon to the brink of virtual insanity. This all culminated in the Imprisoned’s – the aged, sealed form of his master – final defeat, but, before Ghirahim fell into frothing fury, he had one last idea, one possible way to revive Demise the Demon King. Yet, even with kidnapping Zelda, going into the past, and successfully resurrecting Demise, the source of all things evil was defeated and, with the power of the Triforce, finally and utterly killed. And as for Ghirahim himself, in the form of Demise’s sword? He dissolved in the aftermath, carried off by the currents of time....
....
Days. Years. Weeks. Centuries. Months. Millennia.
How long he drifted, it was impossible to tell. But by the time he stopped, he was nothing; a fragment, a nonphysical presence. That piece of soul finally latched onto the physical plane, yet it was nothing, not even a shadow; regardless, the mindless nonexistent entity found a home within an abandoned temple, and for some time, it fed. For each passerby, it took a piece of the darkness in their soul, so small that it was beneath the notice of even the most spiritually inclined. This process was slow, unbelievably, painfully slow – or would be painful, if the presence knew of its own predicament – but after many, many years, the demon had gathered enough darkness to regain his physical form; but even this wasn’t enough. Still Ghirahim slept in a death-like state, and though he now had physical form, it was as a black, evil blade.
This blade rested within the temple for ages, so long that legends formed about an evil blade exuding a powerful aura began to circulate, and with them, interest grew until a powerful bandit lord wanted the sword for himself. With his troupe – small, but infamous for strength, they scaled the temple in the dead of night and entered the room where Ghirahim slept, wisps of darkness crawling around him to be slowly absorbed into his blade. As the bandit leader grabbed the hilt, however, he screamed; his soul, along with the souls of his brethren, were ripped out of their bodies without mercy.
And finally, Ghirahim was awake.
SPECIAL ATTACKS
Attack Name: Bare-Handed
Description: Ghirahim exudes a magical aura from one or both of his hands, focusing his magic around it.
Effect: Steeling his skin and clothing with magic, Ghirahim gains resistance to damage, particularly melee damage, allowing him to take blades and metal attacks with ease. This allows him to perform feats such as grabbing a sword or going hand-to-hand against a swordsman with no worry of being cut... on his hands, at least, even from blessed weapons.
Variant 1 Effect:
Variant 2 Effect:
Attack Name: Volley
Description: A snap of his fingers, and a number of daggers appear before him and float, and with a slight movement from his hand, he sends them flying.
Effect: With a snap of his fingers, he can summon any number of blades up to his limit of 15, and either can send them flying as he does with his normal Volley (up to three times in succession with all of his blades), or individually after the last. The speed of flying is limited once they are fired, but have an impressive speed nonetheless; the same as if tossed by an expert. The range of flight is 25 feet before they dispel.
Variant 1 Effect: Impale: A variant, where he makes his daggers hover around his opponent, staying in relative place – even as they move – before attempting to impale them. Again, these exhibit slight homing capabilities.
Variant 2 Effect:
Attack Name: Ring of Fire
Description: Ghirahim snaps his fingers, creating a ring of diamonds around him, which promptly explode with a burst of flames.
Effect: Ghirahim makes a burst of fire explode around him; damage-wise, this is rather weak, though has the likely opportunity to set things alit, but it has some force behind it, enough to throw an average-sized human off their feet and bigger ones off balance. The max range is 15 feet.
Variant 1 Effect:
Variant 2 Effect:
Attack Name: Underworld Slash
Description: Ghirahim charges his blade for a brief moment in fire and force magic before throwing the magic in a disc.
Effect: The disc, a mix of fire and force, blows through any fleshy object (meaning, creature) or sufficiently airy obstacle, such as a gate, in its path as it knocks them down, burning them at the same time before dissipating after a 50 foot flight or hitting a solid enough object.
Variant 1 Effect: Explosion Slash: A variant; rather than make a disc that blows through opponents, he makes one that explodes on contact either with a solid object or a flammable substance, throwing some of even the largest humans off of their feet and doing fire damage as well.
Variant 2 Effect:
Attack Name: Floored Explosion
Description: Using his barrier magic, Ghirahim creates a floor beneath the feet of everyone around him, lifting them up before making the floor disappear and finish with an explosion of force.
Effect: Ghirahim creates a floor under the feet of everyone in a 15 foot radius, then launches the floor up 20 feet, making it disappear to let anyone trapped by this to freefall before flying down to cause a magical explosion of force strong enough to send people flying. This requires a few brief moments (about 2 seconds) of charging, signaled by a red aura growing around hands.
Variant 1 Effect: Ceiling Trap: Rather than a direct battle use, Ghirahim has a variation where he sets a trap, weaving a magic circle into the ground for a few seconds before it disappears. When it activates - the exact qualifications of which can vary, such as merely stepping into it or stepping into the center, one target required or a group - the victim(s) are thrown upwards into a spontaneously formed ceiling, knocking the wind out of them at best or breaking bones at worst.
Variant 2 Effect:
Attack Name: Thread of Fate
Description: Utilizing a special magic, Ghirahim shoots a thick thread of red magical energy
Effect: If the thread strikes his opponent, all damage between them is increased; Ghirahim's damage is increased against them, and their damage is increased against him, while damage and healing from outside sources are both reduced (self-healing is increased, and is spread to the other end of the thread), all of which by a factor of 50%. This lasts for a few minutes until the duration ends, and cannot be cut unless by magical means directly counter to such spells or by holy weapons, or by one of the tied people moving out of the 30 foot range (Ghirahim's teleportation keeps this thread intact, reappearing when he becomes visible again)
Variant 1 Effect:
Variant 2 Effect:
Attack Name: Spike Field
Description: Combining force magic with darkness, Ghirahim summons a small field of spikes in his vicinity.
Effect: Ghirahim summons 10 large dark blades around him from the ground, attempting to impale those around him. The spikes appear within a 15 foot radius, and the exact areas they rise up can change on each use of this ability.
Variant 1 Effect:
Variant 2 Effect:

CANON ABILITIES
Ability Name: Demonic Physique
Ability Description: Ghirahim is simply not human.
Ability Effect: Ghirahim has reflexes, speed, strength, and stamina far beyond what meager stunts humans can offer, able to exert almost instantaneous movement, rarely be caught off guard, move massive boulders with a single hand, and last in combat far longer than many warriors, not to mention take hits far better to the point where regular metals are almost entirely ineffective. He carries a weakness to blessed and holy weapons, but even then, only weapons infused with the holiness of deities do more damage than weapons blessed by a simple priest. On the other hand, he boasts a virtual immunity to fire and a high resistance to darkness.
Ability Name: Teleportation
Ability Description: Ghirahim or items from his personal effects disappear, either slowly or instantaneously, usually in a flurry of red and white diamond patterns, though occasionally black and gold are seen as well.
Ability Effect: Ghirahim teleports himself and items around, however, for items, it is limited to only what is on his person, for the most part. There is no known range; however, he seems to have a variation for longer distances requiring a wave of his arm or sword. The weaker version, which he can do almost instantaneously and within very quick succession, cannot be done unless he has a clear view of his target destination, thus limiting it largely to battlefields.
Ability Name: Telekinesis
Ability Description: Ghirahim levitates objects.
Ability Effect: Ghirahim has the ability to move physical objects with his mind. He is able to freely lift humans with no effort and levitate his blades, as well as more menial tasks such as opening chests.
Ability Name: Fire Magic
Ability Description: Ghirahim has access to fire-based magic.
Ability Effect: Ghirahim has the ability to create and utilize an energy that behaves like a supernatural fire, which he can use to varying effects, that takes the appearance of his diamond-shaped energy rising in a similar manner to fire, often a mix of dark and light oranges.
Ability Name: Force Magic
Ability Description: Ghirahim has access to explosion and force magic.
Ability Effect: Ghirahim can artificially create force, which he can utilize to increase the already formidable powers of his attacks, create explosions, or hasten movement, particularly falling movement.
Ability Name: Barrier Magic
Ability Description: Ghirahim has access to barrier magic.
Ability Effect: Ghirahim has the ability to create barriers, making walls, ceilings, or floors, strong enough to withstand even the most powerful of weapons and magic, over wide swaths of land.
Ability Name: Demise’s Sword
Ability Description: Ghirahim becomes his truest form, a black blade with an evil red aura.
Ability Effect: Ghirahim is able to change into his sword form at will. Doing so grants him all the physical abilities of a supernatural sword, including virtual indestructibility; however, he loses nearly all of his powers while he is in this form. This is why he only transforms when he can do some damage in this form, and doesn’t change for long when he does. His sword form is strong, heavy, and unwieldy to those without strength, but Ghirahim can, if he so chooses, allow his wielder to handle him with much more ease than would normally be required if they are not strong enough. In addition, he is still able to appear outside of the sword in his demon form, however, he is a spirit, little more than a ghost in the physical world.
FINAL SMASH
Final Smash: Demonic Purge
FS Description: With a strong release of magical energy, Ghirahim transforms into his demonic form, the closest to his true form.
FS Type: Transformation
FS Effect: On activating his Final Smash, he releases a burst of energy; this does not do damage, but it does knock away anyone within a 10 foot radius and keep them away. As the flurry of black and white diamonds subside, Ghirahim is transformed, and with the transformation comes changes, the foremost being that he is no longer made of flesh and bone; Ghirahim is now made of metal, the same kind of his true sword form, leaving him virtually immune to damage from anything other than holy weapons – weapons infused with the power of deities. He is much heavier in this form as well, leading to a logical increase in force in his strikes, although he is no slower, either. This ability requires a lot of magic, leading to a transformation duration of only 5 posts.
