SUNNY
Sunny | Appears Female |
Subjective* | Robot |
appearance
Sunny appears to be a young girl with a somewhat boyish frame, perhaps a just a smidgen lanky in build. She is normally seen in functional clothing with just a bit of femininity to it, and likewise her messy hair is often tied back in a youthful pigtail style. Showing perhaps a glimpse of a desire to care and be cute, but some resistance to the idea. Her body language is normally thoughtful and poised, and her stance usually strong.
personality
To her family, there is two "sides" to Sunny. In truth, it isn't that simple.. but it can be helpful in understanding her to view it this way.
There is Sunny, the almost "cliche" kid. Earnest if a bit simple, a naive, heartful, and caring kid always looking for new experiences. Stereotypical but ultimately charming. A strong desire to learn, to play. For parents, for love, for friends.
The other side of her she calls "Matthew" and is a product of the memories within her. Matthew was a pensive, awkward self-described "loser". An adult past his peak, prone to self-destructive tendencies without much hope in the world.
These two sides of her, understandably, come at odds with each other.. causing her to behave erratically. She finds it useful at times to view herself almost as "third" self, above both sides of her.. although she wouldn't quite understand how to describe this third self.
To be honest, if you asked Sunny who they were.. they wouldn't be quite sure.
background
(It is important to note that Sunny herself doesn't remember any of the Birth section, although some things she has slight vauge understanding of simply due to educated guesses.)
Birth -
Sunny was born in a lab, not to be a person.. but to used by them. This really wasn't heartless or considered outside the norm. Her looks an aesthetic choice by her creator. Her ability to feel.. reason and understand human senses and perception a product of the necessity of her task.
She was a viewer.
In her reality, the existence of a parallel dimension was discovered. Although human beings could not view and interact with it directly, they were aware that their actions affected this dimension greatly.. and in turn this dimension could affect their own.
The spirit world, the otherworldly space, there was lots of words for it.. and only one way to directly interact with it. The viewers.
The technology to create viewers was discovered by accident. A primitive viewer was discovered by a futuristic society, and enhanced and given more refined shape.
Lots of things in the physical world affected the otherwordly space. Most of all the human mind. The thoughts and feelings of individuals changed and shaped the space and caused powerful energy known as Otherworldly Shards to be born.
Interacting with the Otherwordly Shards proved difficult, but desirable. The few times that very advanced Viewers were able to absorb the energy and information contained within, they learned that the shards could produce wondrous effects. They could be a treasure trove of information on the time they were born. They could produce strange.. magical like effects. They could even be simply harnessed as raw energy.
Although the technology to create Viewers was at first a tightly kept secret, blueprints and whispers started to leak. Some civilians started working on some of their own. A rush to start harnessing the true power of the Shards.
Sunny, although she was not called this at the time.. is a product of that time.
Her time however as a viewer was cut rather short. Although she proved capable of absorbing very small shards, a shard of incredible strength was far beyond her abilities.. the information and energy stored within greatly overpowered her meager perception and mind. She was nearly totaled when she attempted, and although her frame was kept around for some time.. eventually she was tossed aside when her owner.
Second Life -
It was actually quite some time before she was turned on again. She was tossed from black market hobbyist to the next. Eventually she was all but given up on.
When she was.. the first thing she saw was the sun.
She was empty. Her current owners saw themselves as "pirates" but calling them vultures or junkyard rats might be more suitable. They scrapped up junk on dump planets and tried to make something useful out of it to sell. Somehow by chance, they had collected enough junk to get her to turn on again.
Viewing was in instinct provided to the Viewers by the Core, but when she was turned on she no longer even had that. So the "Scrap Pirates" were at first disappointed to find her without any sort of knowledge of her true purpose. Not one to be too disheartened by a set back, they always kept anything that might be useful later. Sunny would prove the same.
In the meantime, she became somewhat of a curious game for them. She had a deep mind just waiting to be filled, and they found it interesting to fill her mind with social skills. She looked like a kid, so they taught her like one.. taught her to act like one.
At first it was crude, but her efforts were soon rewarded as memories started to awaken in her.
Just not the ones they were expecting.
Strange memories of another life.
She continued awkwardly, learning and growing as a person. Unaware of how to truly access her potential, confused by the memories that would often come to her suddenly. Her earnest and overly cutesy kid self giving her the name "Sunny" after her favorite thing. The sun.
Eventually she would understand something though. Something that confused everyone, especially her. They were not the memories of a Viewer, but the memories of a human. A man who lived long ago. She began to become very confused and uncomfortable about the memories, as they started to become easier to access.
She remembered them vividly and personally. They were.. her memories.
Confused about who they were anymore.. Sunny's personality seemed to change quickly. While they still at times displayed the carefree and simple actions of a child, at times they displayed the behavior of a moody and pensive adult. "Sunny" seemed at odds with this man who lived before.
At the same time.. they started to stumble on the ability to View. They didn't quite understand that they weren't having some sort of spiritual experience, and even after rationalizing that it must be Viewing, they find it hard to separate those feelings from the experience. The Scrap Pirates at least, where happy with this development.
All the while, a war was raging inside Sunny. Who were they? The daughter of the Scrap Pirates? The man they remembered being? A faulty Viewer in need of repair?
.. she had no idea.
powers
!Primary Ability
Name: Viewer of the Otherworldly Shards
Description:
A power source derived from the thoughts, feelings, and experiences sentient minds. Sunny has been especially designed to view, and access th ese shards and utilize their gifts.
Important experiences, strong feelings, passionate thoughts often create these in abundance, while idle thoughts tend to just cause "ripples" that she can read.
When she reads these shards, she enters a state in where she actively "lives" the thoughts, feelings, and sensations that were recorded by the shard. Although this just takes a few seconds, she often can experience far longer periods of time by her own perception.
if she knows what she is looking for, these shards can a record of the past that she can freely view. However, only generic "useless" information can be obtained in this fashion unless she knows what she is looking for. However, for instance, if she knows two people had a conversation in an area recently, it is possible for her to view that conversation.
She also can read very recent feelings that were felt in the area, the stronger feelings lasting for longer periods of time. This can lead her to the shard created by these recent feelings.
Although they are called "shards" they are not always experienced as such. Different "shards" have different appearances. No matter the look however, they contain no actual matter or energy until processed by Sunny.

Otherwordly Shard Ability / Technique
Name: The Land Remembers
Description:
Sunny is able to create magical "weather" blasts. These are concussive blasts, usually shaped like a beam of sorts, aimed directly at one target. She can not use any other power at the same turn as using this.
Damage Type: Partly energy, partly physical. (Weather: (Wind, Snow, Lightning, etc.) Average damage output, affected by weaknesses/resistances to conditions.
Non-Combat Variant: Rather than using her weather powers for a "beam" she can have a weather condition affect the nearby area instead for 2 turns. She can do nothing that would not have a chance of happening naturally in the area she is in. She can not use any other power at the same turn as using this. Extreme weather must have been recent (i.e. happened in the story and not just made up) for it to be recreated.

Otherworldly Shard Ability
Name: Remembrance of Power
Description: When a combatant or notable NPC uses one of their powers, it creates a single use "copy" of the ability, Sunny is capable accessing and using. Repeated use of the power creates another copy. Final Smashes copy damage output are capped at moderate for her usage and generally causes her to take moderate amount of damage herself to access, so it will likely be avoided. A full turn must pass before the copy can be used, and no other power can be used at the same time as this ability.
Damage Type: Varies depending on ability copied.

Robot Ability
Name: Robotic Physiology
Description: Although advanced to the point of almost being unnoticeable as such, Sunny is stil a mechanical being. Certain things do not affect her the way it would a human being. She cannot eat and does not require food, but days without sunlight would cause her to slowly run out of energy. She is immune to diseases and poisons, although coorsive acids are particular effective as well. Although she can repair herself from nearly any wound, she must completely rest before doing so and cannot do so during a fight.
She has a particularly strong willpower, mental attacks having a particularly negative effect.. however she is still vulnerable to many things that prey human senses as she fully replicates these functions. She also is, like many robotics, weak to electricity... and she's not particularly fond of heat as well.
When it comes to her ability to take hits and give them out, meat and potatoes style, consider her a equal to rather strong human adult.
(In simple terms, +resistance to disease/poison -resistance to corrosive acids generally common to them. +resistance to mental attacks +weakness to heat/elecrticty. Please consider two separate powers if necessary.)
final smash
Final Smash: Child of the Gods
Description: After a momentary transformation sequence, Sunny reaches her full potential. During this, her abilities general limiters are greatly loosened. She can use at least 4 of her Otherworldly Shard abilities instead of the normal one. (Meaning she could use two instances of "The Land Remembers, and also two uses of Remembernce of Power." in the same turn.
Damage Type: No direct damage.
