personality
Lin is an upbeat, energetic, and curious young girl of thirteen. She is a genius prodigy when it comes to mechanics and robotics, and is deeply involved in the Skell research and development of New Los Angeles. This speaks to a level of maturity and level-headedness beyond her years, and Lin is indeed someone who can be faithfully relied upon - even in matters of life and death. Lin is still a thirteen year old girl though, and she needs a firm, more experienced hand to guide her enthusiastic zeal to produce the best results. If left unchecked, her excitement can cause her to miss important details, even if few can match the gusto with which she attempts to crack a problem.
Like all in New Los Angeles, Lin carries the unbearable burden of Earth's destruction. Beyond her genuine upbeat nature and boundless excitement, there is a sadness and pain that words simply fail to describe. Lin, and all members of BLADE like her, have a fierce protective streak for their teammates and consider them family. Lin still needs a parental figure to emotionally anchor her emotionally and guide her enthusiasm, but once part of a team, there are none more hardworking or dedicated to that team's well being.
background
The Earth has been destroyed. In July of 2054, two unknown alien factions met in orbit around the planet and engaged in the battle. The Earth was caught in the crossfire and reduced to ash, but humanity lingered on. Humanity was forewarned, a newly formed Coalition Government began Project Exodus. Hundreds of of interstellar arc ships launched from the planet's surface and attempted to escape, but only a handful cleared the battle. Aboard one, the White Whale, was Lin Lee Koo.
Lin had been selected for her mechanical genius, and took part in stewarding the White Whale during its journey across the stars. That journey came to an end after two years, when the ship was set upon by pursuing alien forces. Both craft were drawn into a mysterious spatial phenomena, and crash landed on a planet called Mira.
Once the dust had settled, Lin began heading a project to develop a flight module for BLADE's Skell corp, and formed a close knit team with a colonel named Elma and an amnesiac crash rescue named Cross. This team would go on to spearhead some of the most important operations on Mira, but before those adventures concluded...
...Lin suddenly found herself very, very far away.
powers
Power - Ability
Name: Mimeosome
Description: Lin's actual body slumbers in stasis within the Lifehold Core on Mira, but her consciousness is projected into her Mimeosome. This is a cyborg full body prosthesis designed to withstand the rigors of finding and colonizing a new homeworld. In order to ease the mental shock of occupying a different body and to instill a sense of normality into their users, Mimeosomes mimic normal, nonessential biological functions like taste. Even so, they were designed with a mission in mind.
Lin's Mimeosome body does not require food or drink (though it is capable of safely imbibing them), does not tire in day to day usage, and is significantly stronger, faster, and more durable than any human body. The outer casing is tough enough to resist bullet impacts and the crushing blows of Mira's Indigens. If necessary, Lin can turn off her ability to feel pain and survive grievous wounds that would otherwise kill or incapacitate a human.
Relatively minor injuries to the mimeosome can be repaired through combat abilities and Soul Voices, but significant damage requires specialized equipment that almost certainly does not exist in this world. If Lin sustains truly greivous wounds that do not threaten her core functions, she will neither die nor be able to recuperate unless trophified.
Damage Type: NA
Power - Weapon
Name: Gatling Gun
Description: This Sakuraba Industries gatling gun folds neatly into a (relatively) small pack capable of attaching to a Mimeosome back. While small for a gatling gun, it is still too cumbersome to be easily used by a regular human. However, Lin's Mimeosome body allows her to deftly handle and aim with it, and its fire control mechanisms are seamlessly integrated into her optics (that is, she can aim simply by looking at something). Lin cannot aim while running, but she is able to freely walk about over uneven terrain while aiming and firing with machine assisted stability and accuracy.
Though the weapon has unlimited ammunition (through the power of gameplay convenience), it does have a significant charge up and cool down period. Lin must rev the barrels for one post, may fire consecutively for two, and must let the barrels cool for another post before firing again. If she does not stow the gatling guns, the barrels continue reving during their cooling phase.
Damage Type: Physical
Variant: NA
Power - Weapon
Name: Shield
Description: Also developed by Sakuraba Industries, this folding shield is stored adjacent to the gatling gun on Lin's back, and serves as her primary tool for both defense and melee combat. The shield is nearly indestructable, but attacks of stupdendous strength are capable of transfering damage through it. This particular model is also incapable of stopping elemental damage from seeping through.
As a weapon, Lin uses the shield's remarkable resilience, her own machine strength, and its tapered edges to bludgeon or crush opponents.
Damage Type: Physical
Variant: NA
Power - Technique
Name: Weapon Switch
Description: Lin may only use one weapon at a time - either her gatling gun or her shield. Lin's Battle Arts receive Secondary Cooldown only if the appropriate weapon is active. She may switch between weapons immediately, once per post, and perform an action using the swapped to weapon right away. In these situations, however, she only receives Secondary Cooldown for the weapon performing the post's primary action (For example, if Lin is revving her gatling gun but must swap to her shield to defend herself, only the shield receives Secondary Cooldown).
Damage Type: NA
Variant: Secondary Cooldown - When a Battle Art is not in a Cooldown state (that is, it is free to use) and its corresponding weapon is equipped, it enters Secondary Cooldown. Secondary Cooldown lasts a number of posts equal to the Battle Art's regular Cooldown, pauses when the appropriate weapon is not in use, and resets completely if the Battle Art is used before it completes. Once finished, that particular Battle Art receives a number of bonus effects. See the Battle Art section for specific details. If Lin is in Overdrive, each Battle Art becomes capable of receiving a Tertiary Cooldown, which operates in the same way. Tertiary Cooldown effects stack on top of Secondary Cooldown effects.
Power - Ability
Name: Flow of Battle
Description: BLADE members are especially attuned to the flow of battle and the functioning of their party, and this awareness has a direct effect on their performance in battle. This manifests in two ways:
The first is through Tension Points. These are used for various powerful special techniques, which will be detailed below. Lin gains TP in several ways.
- At the beginning of every post in which Lin is involved in battle, she gains 100 TP.
- For every successful Soul Voice activation, Lin gains 100 TP.
- For every successful non-Power attack, Lin gains 100 TP.
- For every successfully executed Battle Art, Lin gains 200 TP.
Lin starts the RP with 1000 TP. After a battle, the amount of TP Lin possesses drops by 100 every post until another battle starts, but will not go below 1000. If Lin ends a battle with less than 1000 TP, her current level stays constant until another battle starts.
Damage Type: NA
Variant - Morale: Lin quantifies the party's morale during battle, which has an effect on how often Soul Voices can be activated certain Battle Arts. There are three different levels for Morale: low, medium, and high. Raising or lowering Morale by one level requires that four consecutive, distinct "events" take place during battle. These can range from landing an attack, an instance of good teamwork, activating a Soul Voice, a motivational speech, or any number of things. There isn't a post limit for how often these need to occur, but the count resets if it is interrupted by an event going in the opposite direction. For instance, if three positive events occur, then one negative one, the count is reset. The amount of morale the party starts with depends on the circumstances leading up to the battle.
Variant - Revive teammate: If Lin has 1000 TP and a teammate is killed, they turn into a trophy but are not sent to Bowser's Prison. Instead, the character's owner can choose to have them remain on the battlefield for five posts. During that time, Lin can spend 3000 TP to revive her teammate at half health. The incapacitated character cannot be revived by their trophy base being touched during this tine, unless it is by Lin with 3000 TP.
Power - Technique
Name: Battle Arts
Description: These special techniques are Lin's main offensive tools and are divided into five categories. Melee, Ranged, Buff, Debuff, and Aura. The specifics for each are described below. Lin can only activate one Battle Art per post, and may only have eight Battle Arts equipped at a time. These can be swapped out between threads or battles in the Main.
Damage Type: Varies
Gatling Gun Arts
Art: Bullet Storm
Type: Ranged
Effect: After a moment to plant herself, square up, and aim, Lin spends a full post firing high powered rounds into a cone shaped area of effect ahead of her. She cannot move while firing, and once her target is set, she cannot alter her aim. Any humanoid enemies struck by a round lose the ability to activate Powers for one post.
TP Cost: 0
Cooldown: 2 posts
Secondary Cooldown: A successful hit generates 100 TP
Tertiary Cooldown: A successful hit generates 200 TP
Shield Arts
Art: Wild Down
Type: Melee
Effect: Lin leans back, plants her back foot, puts everything she's got behind her shield, and smashes forward, punching straight through even the sturdiest defenses. Anyone struck with this monster of a hit is knocked to the ground and dazed for a single post (Toppled). Even Lin must take time to recover from such a momentous blow, and she cannot perform a follow up attack on a Toppled foe in her next post - though she may take any non-offensive action. If a fellow party member launches an attack on the downed opponent though, it is all but guaranteed to land.
TP Cost: 1000
Cooldown: 4 posts
Secondary Cooldown: Increases Wild Down's ability to negate defenses and allows for immediate reuse
Tertiary Cooldown: Increases the duration of a struck opponent's incapacitation by one post and allows for immediate reuse
Art: Flame Cloak
Type: Buff
Effect: Lin and any allies within fifteen feet gain a tremendous resistance to thermal damage. Lasts for two posts.
TP Cost: 0
Cooldown: 3 posts
Secondary Cooldown: Extends effects by 2 posts
Tertiary Cooldown: Extends effects by 2 posts
Art: Iron Prison
Type: Aura
Effect: Dramatically increases Lin's physical resistance and inflicts proximity spike damage. That is, any opponent who spends more than one post within five feet of Lin will begin taking damage from her Aura every post. The damage is equivalent to a fully weighted punch from Lin. Lasts for 3 posts.
TP Cost: 1000
Cooldown: 4 posts
Secondary Cooldown: Increase effect duration by 2 posts
Tertiary Cooldown: Increase effect duration by 2 posts
Art: Trash Talk
Type: Debuff
Effect: Lin talks some smack at her opponents, grabbing their attention and forcing aggro onto herself. Any opponent within fifteen feet of Lin's taunt will be forced to focus on her for the duration of their next post. Anyone outside that range but within earshot will feel a strong compulsion to focus on her, but can resist if they are not distracted. Any projectile attacks that are being launched or that are in transit when Lin activates Trash Talk immediately change course for her. NPC opponents will always swap their attention to Lin if they are within earshot, and will not swap back unless another character attacks them. Lin gains 200 TP x the party's Morale level when using this move.
TP Cost: 0
Cooldown: 1 post
Secondary Cooldown: Immediate reuse
Tertiary Cooldown: Immediate reuse
Power - Ability
Name: Soul Voice
Description: If certain conditions on the battlefield are met, Lin may activate a Soul Voice. These are verbal commands or calls for support (in the form of requesting a type of Power) that, if followed by another party member, activate a number of effects. The first is that all party members receive a small amount of healing. The second is that Lin receives 100 Tension Points. The third effect varies depending on the situation in question, which are detailed below.
Lin cannot explain to other characters what the Soul Voice is or how it works beyond very simple, general terms, such as saying that the party's teamwork "just feels good."
The frequency that Soul Voices can be activated is determined by the party's Morale. At Level 1, a Soul Voice can be activated every three posts. At Level 2, every two posts, and at Level 3, one may be activated every post if conditions are met.
For the purposes meshing other characters' Powers to Lin's Soul Voice requests, Buffs are support techniques take an immediate effect and then cease, and Auras are abilities that create an active, ongoing change in a character's capabilities.

final smash
Final Smash: Overdrive
Description: Lin can activate Overdrive at any time at the cost of 3000 TP. Overdrive lasts for ten posts, and confers the following constant buffs:
- Lin gains the Overdrive Counter, which starts at 0 and can rise to 100.
- All Battle Art cooldowns are halved. The effects from Buffs and Auras do not stack if they are recast while their original effects are active.
- All Battle Arts automatically charge their Tertiary Cooldowns, regardless of what weapons are equipped.
- One Soul Voice can be activated every post
- Party morale rises one level when Overdrive is activated, and automatically rises one level for every Final Smash a party member activates while it is in effect.
Battle Arts gain the following effects:
- Ranged and Melee Arts increase the Overdrive counter by 10 when used.
- Buff Arts add 0.2 posts of Overdrive for every increment of 10 on the Overdrive Counter. These posts are only added in whole number integers (If Lin gains 1.2 posts from using a Buff Art, only one post is actually added).
- Aura Arts add 0.25 posts following the same rules as Buff Arts.
- Debuff Arts add 25 TP x the current Overdrive Counter.
If Lin performs Arts in certain orders based on their colors while in Overdrive, the following effects occur:
- Ranged to Ranged, Melee to Melee, Ranged to Melee, or Melee to Ranged: the Overdrive Counter does not increase.
- Buff to Ranged or Melee: Overdrive Counter increases by 20
- Aura to Buff: Light HP restoration
- Aura to Debuff: The effect duration of all of Lin's Buffs, Auras, and Debuffs goes up by one point.
